C&N Signs 3 Year Marketing Agreement with Heron Lake

50M gallon per year ethanol plant ads unit train capacity to C&N’s supply and marketing efforts in Midwest and West Coast markets

Minneapolis, MN – Sept 14th  — Today, Mansfield Oil Company announces the addition of Heron Lake BioEnergy to C&N Companies’ existing portfolio of ethanol marketing partnerships. Heron Lake BioEnergy is a dry grind facility, using 18 million bushels of corn to produce 50 million gallons of ethanol and 160,000 tons of Distillers Dried Grains (DDGS) annually. The plant has unit train capacity on the Union Pacific that provides competitive shipping rates to most of the Western United States and excellent truck logistics to Minnesota markets. 

“This is our first new plant relationship since our acquisition of C&N and is a real demonstration of the confidence placed in Mansfield and C&N as a thriving, independent marketing partner,” says Douglas Haugh, EVP of Mansfield Oil. “Our strengths are logistics, marketing, and the supply chain automation technology that refiners are increasingly requiring of their ethanol suppliers. Working transparently with great producers like Heron Lake, we can improve netbacks for plants. Meanwhile, we reduce costs for customers by slimming transportation and administrative costs across the supply chain.”

Heron Lake BioEnergy (HLBE) is located one mile northeast of Heron Lake on the south side of Hwy. 60.  The plant produces 50 million gallons of ethanol annually, which is sold to petroleum marketers in Minnesota and across the nation as a clean-burning, high-octane fuel additive. HLBE uses 18,000,000 bushels of corn annually. As a co-product of ethanol production, the plant creates 160,000 tons of Distillers Dried Grains (DDGS) annually that is sold to livestock producers as a high-value nutritional supplement.
